The Truth Singer

The choir left and so I sang alone

How could I not have noticed?

They must have grabbed their coats

How did I not hear their shuffles toward the door?

I am the day, the expanse, the feet upon the rock I see the warm star of life in the heart of the sky

Wind, sand and water did not wear me away I stand a promontory over the dry land

You will not wear me away,

I will sing without my robe

A glistening body in the light

Alone and no way to shut my eyes

No way to shut my eyes

A promontory over the dark land

Wind, sand and water will not wear me down.

I sing with no way to shut my eyes

Not where to lay my head

A promontory unmoving in a desert place

I will sing without a robe

A glistening body in the sun

A glistening body in the sun
